"I should like to save the Shire, if I could - though there have been times when I thought the inhabitants too stupid and dull for words, and have felt that an earthquake or an invasion of dragons might be good for them. But I don't feel like that now. I feel that as long as the Shire lies behind, safe and comfortable, I shall find wandering more bearable: I shall know that somewhere there is a firm foothold, even if my feet cannot stand there again."
"I see no hope of it now. But I've got to do the best I can."

Hi I woke up with like these insane Frodo and Sam emotions! So I just kind of thought about it. Personally, I think as the War of the Ring went on, Sam became Frodo’s partner in survival. They literally only had each other. Not only that he became Frodo’s anchor to the ground, because while Frodo carried essentially the fate of the world, Sam was carrying Frodo so it didn’t sweep him away. It was a two-man job, right!
So like I’m thinking, while Bilbo is so precious and irreplacable to Frodo, as is Merry and Pippin, there are things between himself and Sam that can never really be told and understood by anyone else but Frodo and Sam. So really like he’s so much more than a gardener, not in a romantic way but like..he became Frodo’s best friend – his equal, since you know the Gamgees have served the Baggins for a while now. Gaffer with Bilbo, etc. And I think it goes even deeper than that? Like there’s nothing the other wouldn’t do if it was within their power, and while Frodo had his hands tied with the Ring, there’s no doubt he wanted every minute for Sam to be alright and okay – but knew that he couldn’t survive without him.
So I don’t think like, it was out of a sense of honor that Frodo gave all he had “and could have had” ( if he had been able to function and live normally without the Ring stealing his future/life) to Sam, aka his home, his inheritance, the Red Book, I think it was made out of complete and utter love for someone who he felt deserved happiness more than anyone in the world.
And honestly I really think for all the stupid posts on tumblr that say Frodo is this and that, the one that angers me the most is like that Frodo didn’t appreciate Sam.
Because Frodo is like…Sam’s biggest fan. Like fanboy even. Like in the musical there’s a part where Frodo is like, ‘it’s not me they’re going to be singing about’. He admires and looks up to him so much, just as Sam does for Frodo – so basically they hero-worship each other and are in the deepest most renowned friend-love to ever exist in fiction goodbye.
