30 days of lotr | 2. the fellowship of the ring
Nine companions. So be it. You shall be the fellowship of the ring.
And the Fellowship of the Ring, though eternally bound by friendship and love, was ended.
“Strangers from distant lands, friends of old, you have been summoned here to answer the threat of Mordor. Middle Earth stands upon the brink of destruction; none can escape it. You will unite or you will fall. Each race is bound to this fate, this one doom.”

Picture time
Dear Eru, after years of being in the LotR fandom, I just got around to drawing these losers.
Now for the ‘what is everyone thinking’ part:
Pippin: This is awesome
Boromir: proud of himself and also loving the fact that he kind of has two kids to take care of
Merry: thinking of ways to trip Boromir or prank him in some way
Aragorn: internally screaming
Legolas: he is super super super happy that he can hug his husband and not have his dad bitch about it
Gimli: he isnt sure if he bitchslap Legolas or enjoy the hug
Frodo and Sam: idk, the usual thing with these two
Gandalf: regreting his life choices
Boromir’s riddle
Boromir’s hobbit hug
Boromir cuddling Hobbits because why not.

boromir’s character makes me so sad, because honestly, he was one of the most caring in the fellowship. he understood their mission and wanted to get it done as successfully as possible, but he wanted what was best for everyone with them as well. he felt the need to care for all the hobbits, not just frodo. and when he made a mistake, it destroyed him. he saw that he was weak and that he nearly ruined everything. and he died trying to make that right. boromir is the best.
Seriously, though, the only reason I would have wanted Boromir to live in Lord of the Rings is because I would want a scene - in the movie or cut scene - in between Frodo’s awakening and the coronation where the Fellowship is just sitting around eating dinner and the whole time Boromir’s just been sitting there quietly until Aragorn asks him what’s wrong and Boromir just looks up with a rather bemused face and goes
“Looks like I was wrong. One can simply walk to Mordor.”
